Besides video conferences that I have to attend, sometimes I do attend audio conferences with participants from different regions of the world. I prefer audio conference compared to video conference especially if it’s after office hours. For video conference, I have to go back to the office. I can do audio conference from the comfort of my home and spend more time with my family. One can be as effective in audio conference is everyone is prepared for the meeting.

At times, the participants are my colleagues who happened to stay in the same neighborhood. We will meet in one of our place and have a social gathering while having the audio conference. There will always be plenty of peanuts and beers to go around.

In order to have an effective audio conference, I purchased a speaker phone with option for headset. The phone must have digital display and redial button too.

A speaker phone is necessary since most audio conferences last more than 30 minutes. I do not want to burn my ear and injure my hand holding the phone handset for so long each time. Display panel is necessary to show the numbers which I dial to join the audio conference. Usually, the audio conference numbers is a long string with security pin numbers. So, a display panel will help me ensure I key in all the numbers correctly. With such long string of numbers, it goes without saying how helpful the redial button will be when I need to dial in if the line drops.
