My cousin and her hubby are going back to school again on government scholarships. I was so impressed that both of them are going back to earn their master degrees together but in different universities. She is going for Master in Business Administration and he is going for Master in International Relations. Both of them are pursuing their masters program based on their current job requirements. Hubby is a career diplomat.
When they had initial discussion with me to seek my opinion, I asked them to go do it overseas universities such as Harvard, Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania, Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University or perhaps at smaller ones like Gibbs College (http://www.gibbsnj.edu).
What really impressed me was they have two young school going kids who require their attention. They are ready to face the challenge to pursue their higher education full time and targeting to complete their masters program within 18 months. It’s is going to be a really tough 18 months ahead of them. Going to classes, preparing for assignments, writing thesis and sitting for exams are really stressful. With the possibility of flunking the exam and not knowing when kids will fall sick are really scary thoughts for me.
I can see their noble intention for pursuing higher educational qualification to have better career opportunities in the future. Better career always leads to better salaries. This is really a smart move by the couple.
I wish both of them the very best of luck and hope to see them with their mortar boards soon.
