How about buying a second hand television?

January 4th, 2008 · 1 Comment

I mentioned earlier in the blog that I am looking for a new television to replace my 15 year-old Sony 29” Trinitron that weighs 50 kg. Since I am not in real hurry to buy a new television set, I spend a lot of time doing product comparison when doing window shopping at the malls and also, browse through the Internet searching for consumer reviews for different products.

While browsing through the Internet, I found an online retailer – Second Act - selling electrical products offering all type of televisions and audio-visual equipments. Second Act offers a wide range of brands like Hitachi, JVC, Marantz, Mitsubishi, Norcent, Optoma, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sony and Toshiba.

Second Act offers factory refurbished, factory closeouts and overstocks, end-of-life, open box and other items at very attractive prices. They even claimed to be the lowest cost provider on the Internet. I compared against a few other sites and it’s true that they are among the lowest.

They have creative marketing strategy where they offer Great Deal of the Day where for a 24-hour period, they offer a very attractive deal. This deal starts at 7 AM CST daily. Customers can subscribe to their email or RSS for daily notifications.

Unfortunately, Second Act only ships to customers in United States and Puerto Rico. I can only admire the attractive promotions and cannot make any purchase.
