Shopping for an economical car

January 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The recent rumor about possible petrol price hike on 1 January 2008 has given me a wake up call to re-look into my car’s petrol consumption. My current car, Naza Ria, is a petrol guzzler. I drive about 100 km to and fro work daily. Needless to say, whenever there is a petrol price increase, it will hurt my pocket badly.

GMC EnvoyThe rumor was saying petrol price would increase by 40 cents. That’s almost 20% increase coupled with the possible increase in highway toll rate, my pocket will be burned badly.

Then, bright ideas and suggestions come pouring in. One of it is to replace my car with a more economical one. I started to explore this idea and browse around in the internet to search for an economical car. But, I ended up looking at nice cars like GMC Envoy which is a four-wheel drive. GMC Envoy is a very nice and comfortable four-wheel drive which comes with leather seats, DVD entertainment system, sun and sound package, touch-screen navigation. In term of safety, GMC Envoy comes with air-bag for driver and front-passenger. But, GMC Envoy has a Vortec 4.2L engine. This will definitely consume more petrol compare to Naza Ria.

Perhaps, I should take a look at the recently launched Proton Saga which costs about $10,000.

well my fren, change la to a diesel car!! My bro drives triton. so far no complaints from him!! bad point is that, if you don’t buy the extra hood for the back, there is no luggage space!
