Two remarkable gentlemen

August 24th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Today is Friday. I took leave from work to bring my gal to Sunway Lagoon for a family outing. It will be my first trip to Sunway Lagoon since the 90’s. The last time I was there, it was only the Wet Park.

Since I was on leave, I woke up late and the ‘system’ just switch to weekend mode. When I parked my car, I did display the parking coupon and just walked to my favorite food stall for breakfast.

I bought the newspaper that cost $1.50 on weekends and paid the shopkeeper $1.50 for a Friday newspaper which should only cost $1.20. He quickly returned 30 cents to me and told me that it’s only $1.20 today. I was so happy I met an honest person today :) He made my day.

After usual ‘weekend’ breakfast, I walked back to my car and saw the municipal council officer issuing me parking ticket for parking without displaying the parking coupon. I pleaded him to let me off for my innocent mistake. He refused and told me that I did not comply with the law. He said he had to do his duty. I pleaded one more time and he said no. He had to do his job to enforce the law. I was so impressed that he stuck to the law and not gave way to my pleading. The parking ticket is $100 for parking without displaying the parking coupon.

Today, there were two remarkable gentlemen who made my Friday a great day. Even though, I am going to be poorer by $100. :(

Give them chance la… If they go back empty handed, their boss will kena them. I can still go to MPPJ to appeal.
