I have to admit seldom read books. I prefer magazine or even browsing the net. I like to read about current events. It becomes a problem whenever I attend any concert or musical as I do not know the story. Watching a concert or musical and trying to understand the story from the songs is really difficult.

I really suffered when I watched Phantom of The Opera and Les Miserables as I could not follow the story. The progam books were very expensive since I wathed both shows were in London. I ended up having to read about the story after watching the musicals. Phantom of The Opera the movie was very helpful to give me a good understanding of the whole story.

For Chicago The Musical, I decided to watch the DVD to understand the story before I watch the musical tomorrow. After watching Chicago The Movie, I found the story is quite simple. Roxie Hart (acted by Renee Zellweger) who has an ambition to be a star, killed Harry Kalstedt. Harry promised Roxie a ‘ticket’ to stardom if she make love to him. After getting what he wanted, he ignored her and she pumped a few bullets into him. Roxie was sentenced to death and while in death row, she met Velma Kelly (acted by Catherine Zeta Jones) who was also sentenced to death for murdering her husband and sister after finding them in bed together. Richard Gere played the role of Billy Flynn, the lawyer representing Roxie. Some famous actresses appearing in this movies are Lucy Liu and Queen Latifah. I shall save the rest of the details else some readers will write nasty comments on my blog.

If you wondered why I am so determined to know the story well in advance,  I paid US$5 for the Swan Lake program booklet printed on a few sheets of paper when I watched the ballet at Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. I promised myself that I am not going to pay a bomb for those few sheets of paper anymore!!!
