White water rafting in Cairns

November 4th, 2007 · 2 Comments

Asia HotelsFrom Brisbane, we flew to Cairns which is 1700 km north. Initially, I was considering driving but after looking at the distance and the amount of time I need to be on the road, I felt it was better to go there by flight.

Upon arrival, we went straight to one of the hotels in Cairns that we have booked prior to coming over. Just like most of Australia hotels, the hotel was nice and clean. Just as what we expected.

Coming from Asia, the weather in Cairns was warm just like home. I would have prefered cooler weather which will be nicer for many of the activities I took part in Cairns. We signed up a few activities with the hotel. Among them was white water rafting at Tully River. The brochure promised that this would be an unforgettable experience of a lifetime. We decided to take up the challenge.

One of the most memorable activities that I did was going for white water rafting at the Tully River which passes through the world heritage rainforest. We passed by the magnificent gorge and ride thought so many rapids that made the white water rafting journey so much fun and memorable. At the end of the journey, we were treated to an Australian barbeque with nice cold beer while watching the video recording of our adventure.
